2012 NFL Preview: Which Division Will Undergo the Most Dramatic Turnaround?

Romeo Crennel Defensive Coordinator Romeo Crennel of the Kansas City Chiefs looks on from the sidelines during the game against the Green Bay Packers on September 2, 2010 at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri.
This question could have a few justifiable answers, but the most logical answer is the AFC West. The Kansas City Chiefs are the primed team to explode onto the scene and shock the NFL world similar to the way the San Francisco 49ers did last season. The Chiefs are recovered from a unlucky season of injuries last year and with Romeo Crenel as head coach, the defense took remarkable strides in the second half of last season. I expect the defense to be elite and the offense to be just good enough with Matt Cassel under center for the Chiefs to take the AFC West. But aside from the Chiefs, the Chargers are another likely team that could go from third place in 2011 to first in 2012. The Chargers season will come down to Phillip Rivers. Will he return to his old form and cut down on his turnovers? I believe he will, but after seeing a couple of key Chargers go down in the preseason including Ryan Mathews, the Chargers, the Chargers do not look quite as formidable. Besides the AFC West, the NFC East is likely to have a different winner because the Eagles, Giants and Cowboys have been evenly matched for so many years, it will come down to which team is more consistent and avoids injuries.
