Los Angeles Lakers 100, New York Knicks 94
Kobe Comes Through, Leads Lakers to Win
For the first time in a while, the Knicks came into the Staples Center with the better record. For the Lakers, this game was their first chance to prove they can contend now that Steve Nash is back in the lineup.
Kobe Bryant and the Lakers asserted themselves early as the teams played to an even first quarter.
Without a ton of help behind him except for J.R. Smith, Carmelo lead the charge in the third quarter as the Knicks took a small lead into the fourth quarter.
But it was new acquisitions Steve Nash and Dwight Howard who helped alongside Kobe Bryant to give the Lakers a slight edge in the game's closing moments.
Pau Gasol's dunk late in the fourth sealed the win for the Lakers on Christmas Day.
