Michael Vick will make his last start for the Eagles on Sunday vs the Giants. The question is, where will he be playing in 2013? Many analysts have pointed to the Raiders, Chiefs and Cardinals as ideal suitors, but I believe the most logical destination for Vick is in Jacksonville.

Vick will run around for the Eagles for the last time this Sunday, but could very well be running around for Jacksonville next year. |
Before I go into how Vick could have success with Jacksonville, let's narrow out the other teams. The Raiders aren't a possibility because they have some of the shittiest receivers in the NFL and a garbage offensive line. Michael Vick landing in Oakland would be imponderable. Now, the Chiefs and Cardinals are very good locations for Vick, but Vick wouldn't be a good fit for them. The Chiefs and Cardinals both posses very good defenses. Frankly, their respective quarterbacks did not do their teams justice because both Kansas City and Arizona have many playmakers on defense. The last thing these two teams want is a quarterback that turns the ball over like there's no tomorrow. On top of that, Kansas City is poised to take Geno Smith number one overall in all likelihood because they should lose in Denver this week to lock up the number one pick and will probably not pass up on the best quarterback in the draft when they need to address their need for quarterback. Arizona, like Kansas City, has an atrocious group of quarterbacks and unless they want to have another ten game losing streak in 2013, they will pick up a quarterback in either the draft or free agency. My guess is that the Cardinals will go after Alex Smith of San Francisco. For the Cardinals, bringing in a quarterback who makes relatively few mistakes and completes a high percentage of his passes is perfect to get the ball to Larry Fitzgerald and complement their tough defense. And you know that Smith would love to screw it to Jim Harbaugh and the 49ers on a consistent basis. So with Oakland, Kansas City and Arizona most likely out of the running, I think Vick will end up in Jacksonville.
The Jaguars will have to part ways with Blaine Gabbert after this year. Two years in, it's obvious he is not a starting quarterback in the NFL. I know Chad Henne is not bad, but the Jaguars don't want to have another crappy year, so they will look to move in another direction. They could definitely use the draft as their next direction. But the problem is that after Geno Smith, who isn't a sure thing by any means, this class of quarterbacks is shaky. Don't expect the Jaguars rolling the dice on Tyler Wilson, Matt Barkley or Mike Glennon with the number two overall pick. You might ask why they wouldn't simply trade down like the Rams did last year with the number two pick? That's because Jarvis Jones, the stellar and versatile outside linebacker out of Georgia, is the consensus best defensive player in the draft as of now. It would make much more sense for the Jaguars to bulk up their roster with more talent since this isn't the year to gamble on a first round quarterback in round one. While the Jaguars could take a quarterback in the second, third or later rounds, it makes more sense to let Michael Vick come in and start. Vick, though he is a turnover-machine and shaky passer, has had his flashes of brilliance. He's not quite the same player he was in 2010, but with a better supporting cast of characters around him than you might think with Maurice Jones-Drew, Justin Blackmon and Cecil Shorts, Vick might have a little bit of fun in Jacksonville. Not only that, Jacksonville might have a little fun with him. If there's any team in the league that needs an attendance and interest boost, it's Jacksonville, a team that can't sell out most of it's home games. Given all those reasons, Michael Vick could be a solid bridge quarterback for the Jaguars.
